Target Group:

Mature Career Changers wanting to enter the industry, Trainee scaffolders and scaffolders working in the industry with no qualifications who want and by law need a recognised qualification to start a lucrative career in the industry. This is the minimum qualification required by industry!

 

Aims:

The aim of the training is to provide candidates with the working knowledge and skills in the methods of the safe erection and dismantling of basic scaffolds.

 

Objectives:

At the end of the instruction the candidates will be able to:

  • Safely erect and dismantle:
    • - An independent scaffold with a return
    • - A mobile and static tower
    • - A putlog and a system scaffold with a return
    • - A birdcage scaffold
  • Inspect and erect ladders
  • Inspect and fix gin wheels
  • Tie knots and hitches common with scaffolding

 

Course content:

  • Health & Safety legislation & regulations
  • Understand types of scaffolds
  • Types of scaffold components
  • Estimating basic scaffold quantities
  • Understanding drawings
  • Basic scaffold erection exercises
  • Basic scaffold alteration exercises
  • Basic scaffold dismantling exercises
  • Inspection report procedure

 

Safety Requirements:

PPE must be worn at all times throughout the instruction.

Trainee scaffolder’s who have had a minimum of 6 months experience as a Basic 1 scaffolder.

 

Aims:

The aim of the training is to provide candidates with a working knowledge of the methods of safe erection and dismantling of basic scaffolds.

 

Objectives:

At the end of the instruction the candidates will be able to:

  • Safely erect and dismantle:
    • A heavy duty independent scaffold with bridge
    • A cantilever drop scaffold
    • A truss out scaffold
    • A chimeny scaffold
    • A protective fan
    • A pavement gantry
  • Fix netting and sheeting to scaffolds

 

Course content:

  • Health & Safety legislation & regulations
  • Understand types of scaffolds
  • Types of scaffold components
  • Estimating basic scaffold quantities
  • Understanding drawings
  • Basic scaffold erection exercises
  • Basic scaffold alteration exercises

Scaffolders who have had a minimum of 12 months on site experienced as a basic scaffolder after completing the Basic 2 Course. Aims:

Objectives:

At the end of the instruction the candidates will be able to:

  • Erect scaffolds to design drawings and specifications
  • Erect and dismantle:
    • Tubular Hanging Scaffold
    • Raking & Flying Shore Scaffolds
    • Temporary Roof Scaffolds
    • System Scaffold Falsework
  • Fix netting and sheeting to scaffolds

  • Understand advanced scaffolds
  • Types of scaffold components
  • Estimating quantities
  • Understanding drawings
  • Advanced scaffold erection exercises
  • Advanced scaffold alteration exercises
